On February 29, York Center Elementary hosted an Open House for students and their families.
Our Lion families enjoyed a night packed full of fun, with student musical performances taking place in the gym under the direction of Mrs. Sitrick, a book fair for families to purchase books, family games in classrooms, blacklight art activities, snacks, and a free game and book for all students.
York Center Principal Dr. Andrea Derdenger was very impressed by the number of families who attended the event.
“We have amazing families, and so many were here tonight,” said Dr. Derdenger. “Children were eager to present their work, excited to perform on stage, and proud to show their families their school.”
Dr. Derdenger stressed the importance of events such as the Open House.
“Bringing our York Center community together to celebrate the incredible work that happens here each day is important to building our home-school connection,” said Dr. Derdenger. “Partnering with families to ensure each child is learning and growing each day is essential to a successful education.”
Dr. Derdenger added that the York Center staff truly appreciated the time families spent at the Open House. “There were many moments of joy everyone shared throughout the evening,” said Dr. Derdenger.
Great job, Lions! Thank you to York Center for hosting a memorable evening for students and their families!
