On Aug. 28, the Lions at York Center School held a Charter Assembly. At the event, student delegates presented a list of words to their peers for how students can all positively impact the York Center community. All students were then invited to sign the YC Charter.
All students developed the Charter words during morning meetings after discussing how they wanted to feel at York Center. Each class came up with a list of words and ideas.
Classrooms selected two student delegates to represent their class in sharing ideas school-wide. In collaboration, common feeling words emerged from all grade levels. They are respected, responsible, calm and safe.
For the 2024-25 school year, these words will guide the York Center Lions in establishing a learning community of well-rounded, confident, and empathetic individuals.
