Wildcats compete in Wheel of Wisdom

On Aug. 22, students and staff at Jefferson Middle School gathered for an all-school assembly featuring the Wheel of Wisdom.

Wheel of Wisdom is a company that provides competitive and inclusive learning experiences by transforming schools into Hollywood-style game show studios, complete with electronic scoreboards, special effects, lockout buttons and sound effects.

The assembly was part of Jefferson’s three-week Jumpstart program, created by the school leadership team to establish a positive, supportive and fun atmosphere.

“One of the goals that we set as a school leadership team was to create everlasting experiences for kids,” said Jefferson Principal Adam Bulfer. “Assemblies play a role in helping us meet that goal.”

Bulfer said events like this help students build community and remind educators of their responsibility to create the best possible school experience.

The game included student questions, wheel spins and grade-level competitions, with participants winning prizes. A special round allowed staff members to compete.

Ten categories were featured on the wheel, and teachers at each grade level had the opportunity to submit five questions related to recent lessons students had learned in the classroom.

“I thought Wheel of Wisdom did an incredible job engaging our kids, and our kids rose to the occasion,” said Bulfer. “When the game show host announced at the end that she had performed for many groups, and we were a great audience, I was proud and ecstatic.”

“It was wonderful to see so much school spirit and excitement in the gym,” Bulfer said.
