On April 23, the Jackson Middle School Symphonic Band and Orchestra performed at the Illinois Grade School Music Association (IGSMA) State Festival. Both groups earned a superior rating. This is the highest rating given out at the festival! Both groups worked hard in rehearsals prior to their performances. Only the best groups in Illinois receive the privilege of representing their school and community at the prestigious annual festival.
The Jaguars, led by Band Director Joe Koppel, and Orchestra Director Dave Farquhar, scored a Division I rating at the IGSMA District Contest in March to qualify for the event. A big “thank you” to all our band parents who support our students, and to Mr. Koppel and Mr. Farquhar for their leadership! Congratulations on your achievement, Jaguars!
