Fun at STEM Day 2023

On May 15, 5th-grade students from throughout District 45 enjoyed STEM Day on the grounds of Schafer Elementary. STEM Day is a special event where 5th graders are invited to learn about different types of hands-on science from 7th graders while enjoying a fun-filled day of learning together.

Students participated in over 40 different activities, such as doing controlled chemical reactions, riding on a hovercraft, building towers and bridges, calculating trajectories and distance, determining probabilities, and more. STEM day also provides 7th-grade students opportunities to build leadership skills and learn the science behind the experiments.

STEM Day is successful only with the help of many hands, including District 45 staff, dozens of parent volunteers, and PTA representatives, under the coordination of Rich and Lisa Kuban of the Villa Park Council PTA and Jackson Middle School 7th grade science teacher Ms. Krista DePasquale. Thanks to everyone for creating ANOTHER special day of learning for our students!
