Wildcat Volleyball in action

Traducción

On March 7, the 7th-grade boys volleyball team from Jefferson Middle School and Coach Kulovits hosted Indian Trail. While the Wildcats were not victorious (18-25, 19-25), fans enjoyed a well-played contest from our student-athletes.

“Our guys definitely battled until the end,” said Coach Kulovits. “I give Indian Trail credit. They played well. They had some big guys and a really good server who we had a hard time returning.”

The 7th-grade boys team started the season with three wins and is now 5-3 overall and 3-2 in the conference.

Jax Chavez, team captain for the 7th-grade team, also gave Indian Trail credit. “I knew they had some good players, and this time they were just a little better than us.”

Chavez said that one of the challenges of volleyball is quickly deciding when to play the ball and when not to play it. He believes the key to his team’s success is being more consistent.

“We could do better,” said Chavez. “Sometimes we communicate well on the court, and other times we don’t. We have players who can spike, serve, and set pretty well, and we just need to get better.”

Chavez said that on game days, the team is excited but usually nervous at the same time. However, he said that the team enjoys being out on the court. “We try to have fun and not get down on ourselves.”

With two games left in the season, Chavez is hoping to win out and then do well in the conference tournament.

“We practice every day after school except for Wednesdays,” said Chavez. “So we are hoping that the work we put into practice will pay off.”
