On August 28, a dozen Jefferson Middle School student musicians went on a “Demonstration Tour” with Jefferson Area Band Director Chris Wallbruch and Orchestra Director Rachel Kayser. The group presented at North and Schafer Schools.
Our Schafer Sharks and North Penguins received an instrument demonstration of 12 instruments, with each Jefferson student playing a solo, followed by a group performance. At Schafer and North, students had an opportunity to ask questions about the instruments. “It was fun. I liked showing all the kids the instrument and how to play it,” said Olivia Palutkiewicz, an 8th grader who demonstrated the violin. “My hope is that they are inspired to play an instrument and not be afraid to try. It’s really fun to play an instrument.”
With band and orchestra sign-ups taking place soon, the musical demonstration was an excellent way for students to learn about the instruments. Great job, Wildcats!
