Transportation/Bus Update

Dear Parents/Guardians:

You may have heard in the media that many school districts and transportation providers across the nation have been experiencing a shortage of drivers this fall. We have been working closely with First Student, Septran, and Universal to provide reliable transportation for all of our students who qualify this year. Unfortunately, all of the companies in the area are being impacted by this shortage, which is leading to impacts on our own District bus routes. Last week, some transportation routes were without drivers and others were combined out of necessity. Additionally, some drivers have had to run multiple routes, leading to delays that make students arrive at school later than would be typical or desired.

We have been reaching out to other providers to find alternate options for some of our students. We have also reached out to other districts in the area in hopes to partner with them to combine routes where we are able. We realize that this is not ideal and we appreciate your patience as we continue to work to resolve these issues with our providers.

Thank you for your partnership and support.

Sincerely,
Dr. Anthony J. Palmisano
Superintendent

Estimados padres y tutores,

Sinceramente,
El Dr. Anthony J. Palmisano
Superintendente
School District 45, DuPage County
