On August 14, students and families arrived at North, Jefferson, and at schools throughout District 45 for the first day of the 2024-25 school year. Hundreds of teachers, staff, and building leaders were on hand to welcome our students and their families.
At North Elementary School, Vanessa Sosa was one of dozens of parents lined up outside with their children. She arrived with her son Elias, a new kindergartener at North.
“For me … it’s very emotional, but I’m excited for him,” said a teary-eyed Sosa. “He loves socializing. He’s a social butterfly.”
Mom said her hope for Elias this year is “to learn a lot and make new friends.”
Here’s to a new year of learning. Here’s to new friends, good laughs and great memories. Here’s to student growth and potential, filled with fun and inspiration. Here’s to moving forward together. To all our D45 students, families, and staff: Happy first day of school!
