Penguins host Open House

North Elementary School hosted an Open House Feb. 26, featuring a kick-off performance of Fractured Fairy Tales by Great Works Theatre for families.

Other activities included bingo, a STEM house-building activity, a family dance in the gym, a scavenger hunt, and math games. The PTA Book Fair was also open during the event, and attendees had the chance to win raffle prizes and enjoy hot chocolate and churros.

North Principal Fred Leinweber was very pleased with the turnout. “This year, we featured a stage performance before our Open House for the first time. It was wonderful to see so many families join us beforehand. It was heartwarming to watch students lead their families through the hallways and participate in activities with their parents in the classroom.”

Leinweber said events like the Open House allow students to showcase their learning community and share what they are working on in class.

“Students love the chance to come into the building, engage in a fun activity with their families, and show them where they spend their days learning with friends. We can see how proud students are as they interact with their families in the building.”

Leinweber said the success of the Open House would not have been possible without the amazing work of the North support staff, who gathered and distributed resources to families during the event.
Wow, great job, Penguins! Thank you to the North staff, North PTA, North United Focus Group (bilingual PTA committee), and all our families for helping make the event successful.
