This week at North School, students in grades K-2 were glowing, as Art Teacher Mrs. Allan had them create art in the dark with black lights and neon colors.
Students were asked to create original designs with hearts, lines and shapes in celebration of the upcoming Valentine’s Day. They used neon colors to create art in a new and exciting way.
Mrs. Allan said that she saved the project for the middle of winter to brighten everyone’s day and that she could feel the excitement, awe and wonder in each class. She heard her students say things like, “This is the best day ever,” and “I wonder what I should do next.”
“I’m also very grateful for funds from Artsonia, our online gallery that has a store,” said Allan. “I receive a percentage from purchases to use in the art room.”
Mrs. Allan was able to purchase neon paints, oil pastels and crayons, and a number of black lights.
Thank you Mrs. Allan for creating a fun and memorable art experience for students, and way to go, Penguins! Your art looks glow-rious!
