On March 21, Jefferson Middle School band, orchestra, and choir students were treated to a visit from a Latin American ensemble in partnership with the Chicago Sinfonietta.
The ensemble was there to perform for our Wildcats and share music and other cultural highlights from various Latin American countries. “This was an opportunity for the kids to experience Latin music in a school setting,” said Chris Wallbruch, band director at Jefferson. “The kids loved it!”
The visit was part of a grant from the JCS Arts, Health and Education Fund of DuPage Foundation (JCS Fund) to support instrumental music, cultural, health, educational, artistic and other charitable organizations serving the needs of residents of DuPage County. “Many of our students have never had the opportunity to see a live professional music performance, and we are so excited to be able to do this for them,” said Rachel Kayser, orchestra director at Jefferson.
Thanks to the JCS Fund, Mrs. Kayser, and Mrs. Wallbruch—for providing our Wildcats with a fun, educational, and musical experience!
