District 45 Welcomes Kelli May and Emily Shultz as Newly Elected Members of the Board of Education and Congratulates Judy Degnan and Navreet Heneghan on their Recent Re-Election

District 45 is pleased to welcome two new members recently elected to the Board of Education. At the May 3, 2021 Board Meeting, Kelli May and Emily Shultz were officially sworn in. They join current members Judy Degnan, Navreet Heneghan, Carol Klamecki, Melissa Slinn, and Kim Taglia in fulfilling the district’s mission of preparing students to successfully navigate a dynamic world.

We’d also like to congratulate Judy Degnan and Navreet Heneghan on their recent re-elction to the Board of Education. Mrs. Degnan and Mrs. Heneghan began their next terms at the May 3, 2021, Board of Education Meeting. The District thanks them for their continued service to the D45 community.

Kelli May

Mrs. Kelli May currently works for Shipt. Prior to this position, she worked at Childtime in Villa Park, KinderCare in Elmhurst, and was a stay-at-home mom for over six years.

Mrs. May is a District 45 graduate. She attended York Center Elementary School and Jackson Middle School. She graduated from Willowbrook High School and received a bachelor’s degree in Educational Studies with a focus in child and family studies and sociology from Illinois Wesleyan University. She has continued her studies at the College of DuPage and earned a nursing assistant certification.

Mrs. May is excited to have the opportunity to help shape the next generation of D45 students. She is excited about the utilization of the referendum by helping to implement full-day kindergarten and early childhood programs that better, and more readily, serve more families in our community. She looks forward to creating more awareness for, and celebrating, the District’s diversity to both foster inclusion and to open the lines of communication to all in the community.

Mrs. May and her husband have three children. Their family enjoys spending time together as much as possible and especially enjoys baseball.

Emily Shultz

Mrs. Emily Shultz is an attorney with previous experience in aviation civil defense litigation. She also proudly helps support their family business in Villa Park.

 

Mrs. Shultz graduated Summa Cum Laude from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. She earned her Juris Doctorate from UIC John Marshall Law School.

Mrs. Shultz is excited to have the opportunity to give back to the community. She is grateful to the D45 community and especially to her son’s school and the amazing team of educators and service providers who have gone above and beyond for her family. She’s looking forward to helping her neighborhood schools thrive.

Mrs. Shultz coaches soccer, helps organize community events to support environmental sustainability, and helps address food security in the community. She enjoys spending time with her family and going on group bike rides.

District 45 da la bienvenida a Kelli May y Emily Shultz como miembros recién elegidos de la Junta de Educación

District 45 se complace en dar la bienvenida a dos nuevos miembros recientemente elegidos para la Junta de Educación. En la Reunión de la Junta del 3 de mayo de 2021, Kelli May y Emily Shultz fueron juramentadas oficialmente. Se unen a los miembros actuales Judy Degnan, Navreet Heneghan, Carol Klamecki, Melissa Slinn y Kim Taglia en el cumplimiento de la misión del distrito de preparar a los estudiantes para navegar con éxito en un mundo dinámico.

Kelli May

Kelli May trabaja actualmente para Shipt. Antes de este puesto, trabajó en Childtime en Villa Park, KinderCare en Elmhurst, y fue madre de casa durante más de seis años.

La Sra. May es graduada de District 45. Asistió a la escuela York Center y a la Escuela Intermedia Jackson. Se graduó de Willowbrook High School y recibió una licenciatura en Estudios Educativos con un enfoque en estudios infantiles y familiares y sociología de Illinois Wesleyan University. Continuó sus estudios en el College of DuPage y obtuvo una certificación de asistente de enfermería.

La Sra. May está entusiasmada de tener la oportunidad de ayudar a dar forma a la próxima generación de estudiantes de D45. Ella está entusiasmada con la utilización del referéndum ayudando a implementar programas de Kínder de día completo y de la primera infancia que mejor, y más fácilmente, sirven a más familias en nuestra comunidad. Ella espera crear más conciencia y celebrar la diversidad del Distrito para fomentar la inclusión y abrir las líneas de comunicación a todos en la comunidad.

La Sra. May y su esposo tienen tres hijos. Su familia disfruta pasar tiempo juntos tanto como sea posible y disfruta especialmente el béisbol.

Emily Shultz

La Sra. Emily Shultz es una abogada con experiencia previa en litigios de defensa civil de aviación. Ella también se enorgullece de ayudar a apoyar su negocio familiar en Villa Park.

La Sra. Shultz se graduó como Summa Cum Laude de Northern Illinois University con una Licenciatura en Ciencias Políticas. Obtuvo su Doctorado en Derecho de UIC John Marshall Law School.

La Sra. Shultz está emocionada de tener la oportunidad de retribuir a la comunidad. Ella está agradecida con la comunidad de D45 y especialmente con la escuela de su hijo y el increíble equipo de educadores y proveedores de servicios que han hecho todo lo posible por su familia. Ella espera poder ayudar a que las escuelas de su vecindario prosperen.

La Sra. Shultz entrena fútbol, ayuda a organizar eventos comunitarios para apoyar la sostenibilidad ambiental y ayuda a abordar la seguridad alimentaria en la comunidad. Le gusta pasar tiempo con su familia e ir de paseo en bicicleta en grupo.
