On August 16, students and families arrived at Westmore, Jackson, and at schools throughout District 45 for the first day of school. Hundreds of teachers, staff, and building leaders were on hand to welcome our students and their families.
Westmore Elementary parent Eboné Weaver was one of dozens of parents lined up outside with their children, waiting for her kindergarten student to be led inside for school.
“There’s a lot going through my heart today,” said Weaver. “He’s ready, and he’s so excited. He didn’t cry, and he’s ready to go.” Weaver said she looks forward to her son learning to read this year and being ready for first grade.
With summer still in the air, a new year of learning begins, with new friends and memories in store, along with lots of growth and tons of fun. To all our D45 students, families, and staff: Happy first day of school!
