On February 28, students participating in the Jefferson Middle School Builders Club gathered after school to cook casseroles for a local homeless shelter. Earlier in the school year, the Club sold candy grams for Valentine’s Day to raise money to buy the casserole ingredients. In less than an hour, under the direction of adult leaders Carolyn Pakeltis, Betty Martin, and Jan Novak, students worked in teams to create Texas Hash Casserole and had fun while doing so.
After the cooking and clean-up, Club members paused for a group picture before enjoying cupcakes.
Kiwanis Builders Club is a student-led community service organization that operates under school regulations and draws its members from the student body. Members learn to work together and develop servant-leader skills as they serve their school and community.
Great job, Wildcats! Thank you for your service to others!
