At its June 20 meeting, the District 45 Board of Education recognized Mr. Joe Koppel, Jackson Area Band Director, for being chosen as a winner of the 2023 Outstanding Music Educator Award by Quinlan & Fabish Music Company. Since 1989, the award has recognized excellence in the field of Music Education in the Chicagoland area. The Board also recognized Mr. Koppel for being selected to receive the 2023 Cloyd Myers Memorial Award from IGSMA, the Illinois Grade School Music Association. This award is given to a person who has demonstrated educational excellence in IGSMA activities.
