On October 28, the Kindergarten classes at Ardmore Elementary engaged in “Pumpkin Investigations” led by their teachers and family volunteers. Volunteers arrived with pre-cut pumpkins and, with the classroom teachers, led small groups of students through a series of investigations. The fun included drawing a picture of their pumpkin, counting the lines, and using four of their five senses to determine how the pumpkin looks, sounds, feels and smells.
Students then estimated the weight of their pumpkin, measured how tall it was using cubes, measured its circumference with links, did a sink/float experiment and even counted the seeds!
A BIG Eagle thank you to all our Ardmore family volunteers who helped our students learn — and to Ms. Nunley, Mrs. Zappas, and Mrs. Shanahan, who created an engaging, hands-on afternoon!
