DESTINATION IMAGINATION
Are you creative? Are you a team player? Do you love a challenge?
Destination Imagination (DI) is a global program that promotes problem solving, teamwork and creativity in students. Teams of up to 7 students and a parent manager choose a challenge to and work creatively and collaboratively to find a solution. Teams present their challenge solutions by performing an interactive skit in front of an audience and appraisers. Four challenges emphasize STEM and two challenges are fine arts and improv focused. The DI program makes learning and problem solving fun!
The DI program is open to all 2nd through 8th graders. Parent participation as DI team managers is needed. Each team manager will receive training and a DI challenge guide. Teams will be formed depending on the number of students and parent team managers who apply. Teams usually meet once each week, from late October through early March. Team schedules are determined by team managers.
The Villa Park Rotary Club has generously helped fund the District 45 Destination Imagination team memberships. However, each participant may be charged up to $10 for tournament fees.
School District 45 has been participating in the DI program for over 25 years. During recent years, our teams have participated in the Region II tournament. Many D45 teams continued on to the State and Global tournaments too. We are hopeful that 2017-2018 will be another successful year for D45’s DI program!
